Darcy Cabrera “Encompass”
In collaboration with Elsa Melo, Julia Salerno and Jaquie Belén, Darcy presents works of embroidery, silkscreen and paper sculptures that blend traditional craft to contemporary art at his first NYC solo art show entitled “Encompass”..
Embroidered flowers turned into fences.
Coming from a tradition of sewing and women fighting against division.
Using an intergenerational technique. An extension of an oral tradition.
A static piece that takes the initiative to participate.
Graphic light weighted pieces that picture chains, fences, barbed wire and flowers.
